Our team is growing! This week, we’re excited to introduce Brittany Haggerty, who recently joined The Pill Club as an HR specialist. Brittany is based in Fort Worth, Texas, where she lives with her husband and six children (yes, you read that right!). She also recently became a mom again—her youngest is 3 months old—and though she may not have a ton of free time, Brittany enjoys music and dancing.
We recently chatted with Brittany about her path to joining The Pill Club, her day-to-day on the job, and her days as a competitive baton twirler. Read on to learn more!
Tell us about your path to the The Pill Club.
I’ve been working in human resources for the past six years, mostly in the manufacturing industry. I also spent some time at the Department of Defense. I learned a lot in these roles, but always felt like something was missing from my job. I really wanted to feel fulfilled by my work and find something that was beneficial to society.
I just gave birth to my sixth child in November. After maternity leave, I decided to seek out other opportunities that were more in line with what I was looking for in my career. I found an opening at The Pill Club on LinkedIn. After going through the interview process and learning more about the company, I was so impressed that I cancelled all of my other job interviews, despite not having been offered the job yet with The Pill Club.
Everything about the company spoke to me—the mission, the packaging, the inclusive culture. I love what The Pill Club is doing for women—especially since not everyone has accessible birth control in every state. It feels really empowering to be at a company that’s doing something for the greater good. As a working mom, I feel really supported. My other kids are back in school, but I have a 3-month old at home. I never feel like I have to hide the fact that I’m a mom when I’m in meetings—in fact, we’re encouraged to bring our kids to video calls!
What’s your core focus as an HR specialist?
I’m completely focused on our employees as it relates to benefits and compensation—things like enhanced benefits, pay structure, and salary raises. On the benefits side, we recently launched Carrot as a resource for family planning and lactation consultations, among other services. And we launched some wellness services, like Headspace and Aapptiv, which we provide for free on top of medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits. I’ve only been on the job for a few weeks, but it’s clear to me that The Pill Club really cares about its employees and puts their well-being first. I’m proud to work at a company that makes sure employees have a good work-life balance and are compensated fairly.
What’s a fun fact about yourself that might surprise people?
As a kid, I was a national champion baton twirler. I competed all over the country, which I absolutely loved. I twirled all through high school—in fact, if baton twirling were an Olympic sport, I probably would have gone on to train and compete!
